Senior Theater Acting Repertory
A group of senior performers located in Queens for over 30 years.
MISSION:
STAR-Senior Theater Acting Repertory is committed to serving the diverse culture of Queens seniors and the community at large by presenting live theatrical programs that will entertain, inspire, and educate our audiences while showcasing its members’ talents and promoting a more positive image of older, “Young at Heart” adults.
MEMBERS:
Our group is open to senior adults 50+ interested in all aspects of theatrical arts who want to volunteer to give back to the community through the development of live performances. Members should be free during the day because that’s when all rehearsals and most performances are scheduled. Members are required to follow the group's Bylaws, guidelines, and expectations.
We have appeared on Queens Public Access television and were the first community theater group chosen to participate in an ongoing cultural festival held at Queens Theater in the Park. STAR was selected by the Queens Museum of Art to be part of a celebration of the 60th anniversary of the 1939 New York World's Fair.
AWARDS:
In recognition of its aims and efforts, STAR has been awarded grants through the Queens Council on the Arts, Flushing Town Hall and The Josephine Foundation.
